Abstract

The literary work by Julio Ramón Ribeyro forms a unit whose center is the idea of a human being who does not receive what he/she wants.  The characters in his stories embody not only material deprivation, but also the impossibility of achieving love, knowledge and integration into society. However his fruitless searches give dignity to his main characters in the certainty that, in fact, human fulfillment resides in the search of themselves. “Silvio en El Rosedal” is a meaningful story because it adds to the several failures of its protagonist the comfort of music which reconciles him with the spending of  the days, also  its author is consoled by the fact of telling stories in the impossibility of acquiring a full understanding of life and the world. 

Author Biography

Víctor Hugo Palacios Cruz, Universidad Católica Santo Toribio de Mogrovejo

Filósofo, escritor y profesor de la Universidad Católica Santo Toribio de Mogrovejo, de Chiclayo (Perú). Tiene un diplomado, una maestría y estudios de doctorado en Filosofía por la Universidad de Navarra (España). Es investigador Renacyt de CONCYTEC y miembro colaborador del Círculo Peruano de Fenomenología y Hermenéutica y del Círculo Latinoamericano de Fenomenología.

Algunas de sus líneas de investigación son: el cuerpo y la dimensión social en la condición humana, Michel de Montaigne y la filosofía de Descartes, la visión de la vida y del mundo en la obra de Julio Ramón Ribeyro, la conciencia de la muerte en la cultura, entre otras.

Es autor del libro La forma de nuestra arcilla. El cuerpo y la interrelación como lugares de lo humano (Málaga, España, Recolectores Urbanos, 2022), asimismo autor de artículos científicos publicados en España, México, Colombia y Uruguay. Ha publicado el libro Desde la ventana, memorias de una cuarentena (Editorial Cortarrama, 2020) y es co-autor del libro Forma et vita. La arquitectura en la relación de lo vivo con lo no vivo (Sevilla, Athenaica Ediciones, 2020), con el capítulo “La desmaterialización de una hipotética post-humanidad. Un examen del transhumanismo”.

En el área de la literatura, además de algunos libros colectivos, ha publicado Las moradas del abuelo (Caramanduca, 2012), El polvo de las sandalias (Caramanduca, 2014) y Al costado del café. Textos de homenaje y devoción (Caja Negra, Lima, 2023).

Recibió una Mención Honrosa en el Concurso de Ensayo Copé 2020, y es creador del blog “La lluvia y el café” (www.lalluviayelcafe.blogspot.com) donde escribe con regularidad sobre temas interdisciplinarios y de actualidad.
