The recreation of visual elements is abundant in Carlos Pellicer’s poetry implying a constant presence of chromatic themes as a topic as well as a writing strategy. The interviews made by Emmanuel Carballo to the author along with Octavio Paz’ critical observations are useful to offer a general approach to Pellicer’s works. The visual topic is tackled by referring the concept of ekphrasis, Vicente Quirarte and Elisa García Barragán’s reflections on the influence of the pictorial dimension and Mesoamerican art, respectively, in the poet’s corpus. Finally, Jordi Julià’s categories of the functions of painting in Guillermo Carnero’s poetry conveyed accordingly to Pellicer’s work.
