This paper analyzes Aventuras sigilosas (1945), a collection of poems by José Lezama Lima, through the concept of desire as a structural and dynamic principle in the transformation process to which the protagonist is subjected. In this transit, the complex network of images in sequence, with different symbolic features, has a nuclear function. In order to study this phenomenon, I selected three poems: “Llamado del deseoso”, “El fuego por la aldea” y “El guardián inicia el combate circular”, because they are nodal points in the journey of transformations in this book. After textual analysis, I point out the heterogeneous and integral nature of desire not only as a principle of the sexual sphere but also as a dynamic will of change, related with natural and mythological images as fire.
