Semantic Consequences of Graphic Transformations in a Poem by Jose Emilio Pacheco

With a method similar to stylistics, this article performs a comparative analysis of two versions of a poem by José Emilio Pacheco. These versions have once peculiarity, the second one repeats the same words of the first one but modifies the organization of the verses, thereby modifying the visual image of the poem as well as the intonation of the voice when reading it. The analysis of both versions aims at showing how a transformation in the graphic level causes transformations in the semantic level. This analysis leads to a general reflection about writing.References
