One of the problems that concern both philosophers and historians could be formulated in this way: what is our relation to history? But the task of the philosopher and that of the historian in the face of this problem is different. In this paper we propose to develop a series of intuitions about the experience of history from a phenomenological approach. What is our experience of history like? What we are going to defend is that the experience of history is part of our way of being and that our daily life unfolds in a historical horizon. This horizon is intersubjective, that is to say, social, and in it different generations are intertwined, allowing themselves to be motivated and influenced by one another. We argue that the study of history is not about understanding the past, but about understanding the present, and narratives are central to this.
