Journalistic chronicles’ analysis is often based on broad, timeless and elusive definitions that do not consider factors such as historicization, particularities of the authors, as well as their themes response in specific mass media context. This article offers an approach to the chronicle as a cultural and historical product, redefined by the regard in context, and the dialogue with the authors and their sociability. More accurately, it proposes a close reading of three chronicles by contemporary Mexican authors (Magali Tercero, Marcela Turati and Lydiette Carrión) in order to submit them to the proposed methodology.
