Author Biography

Andreas Kurz, Universidad de Guanajuato

 

Andreas Kurz is Professor of Hispanic Literature at the University of Guanajuato. He was granted Level 2 in the National System of Researchers from the National Council of Science and Technology in Mexico. He received his B.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Vienna. He is the author of Die Entstehung modernistischer Ästhetik und ihre Umsetzung in die Prosa in Mexiko: Die Verarbeitung der französischen Literatur des fin de siècle, Huellas Germánicas en la obra de Alejo Carpentier, Cratislismo, El general Riva Palacio y la vajilla de Francisco José, Austria: una ficción, La joroba. His work as editor includes Maximiliano I de México: Ensayos sobre la recepción literaria de un episodio histórico, among others. He has written several articles for peer-reviewed journals, magazines and cultural supplements such as La Jornada Semanal. He specializes in Latin American 19th century Literature and History and Comparative Literature. He published recentely a book on the literary representations of the Second Mexican Empire in Mexico and Austria, project for which he received a research grant from the National Council of Science and Technology.
