Abstract

In this article we analyze La muerte del Ruiseñor by Carlos Martín Briceño as a biographical self-fiction with metanovelolase traces, in short, as an auto-metafictional creation. The compositional procedure of the novel is based on real and plausible facts, a writer who conveys his identity traits to an author who is the protagonist of his imagined story. To this resource are added the intimate confessions and concerns of the scriptural process of the novel that the fictional author elaborates on the Yucatecan troubadour Guty Cardenas, historical protagonist that reveals homologies with the empirical novelist and the feglified novelist of the story.

The narrative mechanisms alluded to are the first opera of the meridano writer from the perspective of the auto-metanovela.

Maestro en Letras Españolas por la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México y doctor en Literaturas Hispánicas por la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Profesor investigador en la licenciatura en Literatura de la Facultad de Humanidades de la Universidad Autónoma de Campeche. Miembro del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (SNI). Sus líneas de investigación se centran en la narrativa española de los siglos XX y XXI y en la narrativa de la península de Yucatán. Últimas publicaciones: “Neopicaresca y (de)formación en el primer franquismo: La forja de un ladrón, de Francisco Umbral”, Analecta Malacitana (núm. 43, 2017, pp. 99-130); “La Guerra de Castas en La rebelión de los Cruzoob, de Miguel Ángel Súarez Caamal: de la veracidad histórica a la ficción novelesca”, Península (vol. XII, núm. 2, 2017, pp. 29-48); Viento de agua. Atisbos a la narrativa campechana de los noventa (Gobierno del Estado de Campeche/Secretaría de Cultura del Estado de Campeche, 2018); con el capítulo “La cuna de piedra del campechano José Felipe Castellot: la novela romántica de un bardo modernista” participa en el volumen colectivo Fronteras en Diálogo. Estudio progresivo de la novela corta del Sureste de México, Centroamérica y el Caribe (1869-2016), que próximamente publicará el Instituto de Investigaciones Filológicas de la UNAM.
