De la Casa de Salomón a la Research University

Este ensayo contempla las miserias de la vida académica en las Research Universities norteamericanas y propone un programa de regeneración intelectual que recupere las tradiciones esclarecidas de la historia moderna de la humanidad. Así, la distopía real de la actual vida académica se contrasta con la utopía esclarecida que Francis Bacon plantea en su Nova Atlantis. La tesis central de este ensayo es que para regenerar la vida intelectual hay que recuperar los ideales universales del esclarecimiento y generar nuevos espacios no académicos para la expresión, tanto científica como artística, de una conciencia humana coherente, íntegra y solidaria.
