Hippocratic medical ethics in the Castilian medieval Flos sanctorum

In the Castilian medieval Flos sanctorum, there is a certain influence of the Hippocratic medical ethics, whose hypothesis are disguised in this magnificent work of the hagiographic literature with a Christian morality. This is mainly reflected in some of the doctrinal readings and in certain miracles. In the first case, starting with a symbolic humoral theory, there is an attempt to govern the senses and control the instincts of the human body in different seasons of the year. In the second case, it is shown that the human body is a battlefield of exemplary different opposing forces, which, metaphorically speaking, offer solutions for diseases not only of the body and of the soul, but also of the feudal society.References
