Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission is unpublished and not previously committed to any other journal.
  • The file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF or WordPerfect format.
  • The submitted manuscript fulfils all stylistic and bibliographic conditions included in Guidelines for authors, in About the journal.
  • Articles which are going through the peer review process must follow the instructions included in Assuring an anonymous review.
  • Authors should fill the biographical details (in the following order: grade, title, affiliation, research fields, last three publications) in their profile. It is important to fulfill this requirement.

Author Guidelines

E D I T O R I A L  C R I T E R I A

 1. Academic articles with important contributions to the journal’s field will be received; they must be unpublished and not previously committed to any other journal. The submission, edition and publication process is for free and without any charges.

2. Submissions must include, in Spanish and English: the title of the article, a 150 word abstract that summarize the content, the main purpose of the research, the methodology and the conclusions, and five keywords.

Format for submission:

  • Length: maximum 23 pages with 3cm margins, plus a bilingual abstract (Spanish-English) with a maximum of 150 words and five keywords (the last two are essential requirements for its acceptance). Word format.
  • Typography: Body of text: Times New Roman, 12 pt., double-spaced. Notes: Times New Roman, 10 pt.
  • List of references: APA system with in-text citations following the format (last name, year published: page(s)).
  • Bibliography: at the end in the following way:

-Book: Last name(s), Name, Year published Title, Edition (translation, preface, notes, etc.), Editorial, Collection, Place, Pages.

-Article in a book: Last name(s), Name, Year published, “Title of the article”, in Title of the book, Edition (translation, preface, notes, etc.) Editorial, Collection, Place, Pages.

-Article in journal: Last name(s), Name, Year published, “Title of the article”, in Title of the journal, issue number, Year or volume, Place, Date, Pages.

3. The journal includes three sections: a miscellaneous section with articles and research papers about diverse subjects, a dossier with articles written by express invitation from the editors, and book reviews.

4. For the book reviews section, texts should have the same formal features as previously described. Reviews should not exceed seven pages and address research books published in a period no longer than five years ago.

A R B I T R A G E

1. All received articles will be submitted to rigorous arbitration by two anonymous specialists (external the Valenciana editorial team and the publishing institution) in a peer-blind system.

2. The final result of the dictum will be notified to the autor within a period of ninety business days from the coling date of the call.

3. If the article is accepted, the autor undertakes to sign all rights for publication in the corresponding journal number, by means of a format that will be sent to the e-mail adress provided to the journal.

Author responsibilities  

 

  • Committing with the journal requirements related to: originality, no previous publication, relevance.
  • Presenting the results with honesty and without fraud, falsification or manipulated data
  • Taking collective responsibility, if the case arrives, for the published manuscript.
  • Acknowledging all funding sources and conflicts of interests.
  • Giving due recognition to published work related with the submitted article, by way of correct reference and citation.
  • Authors must inform the editors in case the submitted manuscript or a fraction of it was previously published, or is under a review for its publication in other journal. If that is the case, authors must provide copies of publications or related manuscripts presented to other journals.

Articles

  • Bibliography: at the end in the following way:

Editorial validation

With the submitted article, authors are asked to provide all documents indicated in the requirements for Submission, in full and original version. If the submission fulfils these requirements, it will be put through the following validating process by the editorial committee:

  1. Accreditation for plagiarism detection, under the authorized tool by the Editorial Committee.
  2. The article should be related with the journal’s focus and scope.
  3. The manuscripts must accomplish the requirements for Submission and Requirements for original version, as well as the Guidelines for authors.
  4. Bibliography should be pertinent, actualized and presented according to the Harvard System.

Dossier

  1. All submissions will be put through a strict review by two anonymous specialists under the double-blind peer review.
  2. The final result of the review process will be notified to the author within a period of ninety business days after the call closure date.
  3. Upon acceptance of an article, authors will be asked to transfer the publication rights to the respective journal issue. To this purpose, a format will be sent to the email address given to the journal.

Book reviews

Texts with the same formal features as previously described will be received. Reviews should not exceed seven pages and address research books published in a period no longer than five years ago.

Open Access Policies

Authors who publish in Valenciana do accept the following conditions:

According to copyright regulations, Valenciana does recognize and respect the authors’ moral right, as well as the right of property, which will be assigned to the journal for its diffusion in open access.

Valenciana does not charge authors for the submission, editorial process or publication in the journal.

All texts published and distributed by Valenciana (without exception) are supported by the license Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0), which allows third parties to use the publication as long as they mention the author and the first publication.

The author can make other independent and additional contractual agreements for the non-exclusive use of an article published in Valenciana (e.g. including it in an institutional repository or in printed/electronic media), as long as it is explicitly clarified that the article was published for the first time in this journal.

Length: between 28,800 and 35,200 characters without spaces, including the abstract, notes, and references or bibliography, preceded by a bilingual summary or abstract (Spanish-English) with a maximum of 150 words and 5 keywords. The author should provide the title in Spanish and English, include an abstract of up to 150 words and five keywords in both languages at the beginning of the text, summarizing the content of the document objectively and stating the research purpose, methodology, and conclusions.

If the article is accepted, the author agrees to transfer all rights for its publication in the corresponding issue of the journal, using a form that will be sent to the email address provided to the journal.

Articles for the Dossier section are collected by the coordinator of each issue.

All articles in this section must comply with the editorial criteria described in the website content.

All articles and reviews must adhere to the following format:

Block quotations: Times New Roman, 12-point font, single-spaced, with a 1.25 cm left indentation.
